Guide to buying a Portable Cot
A portable cot is a great idea for any parents who want to be have the flexibility to stay away for the night and have somewhere for the child to sleep (who wouldn't want that?). The following guidelines can help you decide what is best for you.
The things you should look for in a portable cot are:
- safety: most importanntly, the cot should abide by all safety standards, and particularly it should be sturdy, secure and free from dangers (more on saftey)
- weight: the lighter the better, as long as the cot is still structurally sound. It needs to be strong to cater for a growing baby.
- size: New borns are very small and a large cot is not always neccessary.
- usability: If a portable cot is too big, heavy and cumbersome, it stops being portable. Also make sure that you can easily fit the portable cot into your car.
- versatility: It is a bonus if the cot can be used in the backyard, at picnics and at the beach, as well as a when travelling.
