Good and Bad Choices

Excellent Choices

  • Apricot
  • Grapes
  • Pineapple chunks
  • Melon cubes
  • Mango slices
  • Nectarine
  • Passion fruit half with a spoon
  • Strawberries
  • Tinned fruit in natural juice
  • Capsicum strips
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Cucumber
  • Celery sticks
  • Carrot sticks with dips
  • Mushrooms
  • Corn on the cob

Good Choices

  • Dried fruit – good in small amounts as they are a concentrated form of fruit sugars without the fluid, and can stick to teeth causing tooth decay
  • Fruit juice – Good choice to increase fluid intake but some juices (fruid drinks) have added sugar. Eating the fruit is a much better way to get these nutrients plus more
  • Yoghurt - excellent choice, except will be a challenge without refridgeration at school
  • Popcorn - watch the levels of salt or sugar

Poor Choices

Potato chips/crisps

Corn chips

Twisties

High fat sweet biscuits

Fruit bars (processed)
